Crazy Bibliophile and Book Pimp (Not So Anonymous)

I am a mother of two boys and avid reader; I practically live and breathe books. If I could sustain my life on just reading, I would live forever. I'm weird, and proud of it. I have traveled to many places: Mexico, St. Marteen, Prague, England, Cozumel, and Canada to name a few. Many moons ago I co-hosted "Welcome to Insanity" radio show on a micro radio station in TX- but our show was played via streaming internet in coffee houses in Amsterdam. I have a BA in theater. I used to be "the finder of lost things" but I think my last child robbed me of my gift. Now I just have a large collection of useless information... it goes with my growing mountain of "to be read" books

Currently reading

The Hooker and the Hermit
Penny Reid, Luci Cosway
The Suicide Princess
Anthony Bryan
Rise of the Magi (Lila Gray, #3)
Jocelyn Adams
Caged (Holloway Pack, #3)
J.A. Belfield
Truth in Advertising: A Novel - John Kenney Okay... I requested this from NetGalley, and Simon & Schuster (Publisher) and they allowed me to have an ARC.

Sadly, the beginning 2% of the book (which MANY reviews say the beginning isn't easy to overcome) has already put me off. He tells this lovely story, then flat out says 'it's a lie.' So, just as I'm first getting used to his 'voice' as a writer, and try and get comfortable reading the book, and the writer tells me essentially that the first several pages are just blowing smoke up your bottom. Really.

Then it gets better (said in my most sarcastic voice ever)... he starts self-deprecating himself using the name Gary. Oh, Gary is not his name, oh no, he just hates that name so much that he uses it to beat himself up. My husband's name is Gary.

I still try to keep going, but now I'm just hearing a story about a diaper commercial with Gwyneth Paltrow and this stupid director talking about her vagina.

Maybe I'll try again at another point in time... There is some wit, heavy sarcasm... things I do like. Just the 'likes' don't outweigh the 'why am I reading this book'...

DNF... only got through 2% so I don't feel I've experience enough to rate it, so I am not marking any stars.
