Crazy Bibliophile and Book Pimp (Not So Anonymous)

I am a mother of two boys and avid reader; I practically live and breathe books. If I could sustain my life on just reading, I would live forever. I'm weird, and proud of it. I have traveled to many places: Mexico, St. Marteen, Prague, England, Cozumel, and Canada to name a few. Many moons ago I co-hosted "Welcome to Insanity" radio show on a micro radio station in TX- but our show was played via streaming internet in coffee houses in Amsterdam. I have a BA in theater. I used to be "the finder of lost things" but I think my last child robbed me of my gift. Now I just have a large collection of useless information... it goes with my growing mountain of "to be read" books

Beyond the Highland Mist (The Highlander Series, Book 1) - Karen Marie Moning I'd go as far as 4½♥'s...

Let me start out with the fact that I'm NOT a fan of historical romance. It's not my bag (generally) and I usually avoid it, but a friend (Jennypher) recommended this and I LOVE the fever series so I just had to check it out. WOW. Just WOW. It reminds me why I LOVED the Highlander movie... and the Highlander show... and why I melt into puddles of female goo around a Scottish accent and kilt (in true Scottish fashion) to boot. Yum. If you don't like historical, still give it a try. It's got just enough to tell the story and not leave you wondering, but not so many details that you're wishing you didn't know how they went to the bathroom in the 16th century. (Or was it the 15th?)

I did, however, want to smack around the characters occasionally. Stubborn much? Proud much? Gah! But, I found myself (more than one night) staying up WAY too late to just read a few more pages. Great book, and I will definitely continue the series. Steamy at times too, although there was at least one PNR character archetype I was getting a wee bit sick of seeing in books, although it really did help the story in this case. I know, clear as mud, right? But I don't want to give away too much.
